On Friday, October 28, 2011, Woodlawn High School held an assembly to culminate its third annual PINK OUT Campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The campaign first began in 2009 when French teacher Hope Schab Haslbeck decided to honor her 96-year- old grandmother, a breast cancer survivor. That year the school raised $1,000. In 2010, the campaign raised $3,000 after Darlene Diggs-Lasseter, JROTC instructor, and former student Shaneera Lawson-Smith both lost their battles with breast cancer. (Continue Reading)
