Our mission is to ensure that everyone undergoing cancer treatment in the State of Maryland is able to maintain stability in all areas of their lives.
Most people realize that patients who lack health insurance face tremendous financial problems. However, even those with health insurance can quickly exhaust their financial resources, leading to the possibility of losing their cars, their homes, and even their jobs. One cancer survivor put it this way: "I beat the disease, but I lost my life."
CSF goes beyond other community resources to help those in need. We begin by talking with each client to gain an understanding of their needs and then tailor plans accordingly. We identify and refer to state and national program services and we supplement as needed. The types of services we provide, as funds allow, include:
- - Referral to existing programs
- - Eviction prevention
- - Car payments
- - Payment (or co-payments) for medicine and medical supplies
- - Transportation
- - Utilities
- - Food and clothes
- - Emotional support
